Prospective students should contact the school to arrange an appointment for a personal interview with an admissions representative.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All applicants are required to visit the school for a personal interview with the director of admissions. An applicant is encouraged to apply for admission as far in advance of the starting date as possible.

Requirements for admission/readmission to the career program at Avery James College are as follows:

  • Applicant must be at least 17 years of age to start and 18 years of age at anticipated graduation date.
  • Applicant must be a High School graduate or equivalent (such as a GED or valid home education credential).
  • Applicant must successfully complete a personal interview with appropriate college personnel.
  • Applicants under 18 years of age must have parental approval (signature) prior to acceptance.
  • Applicant must be a US citizen or legal immigrant in possession of appropriate documentation.
  • Applicant must freely submit to random drug testing at any time during the program, as deemed necessary by the Campus Director.  A positive drug screen will result in disciplinary action, which may include termination from the school.
  • Applicant must be current with all required immunizations including 2-MMR’s (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, and a MCV4 (Meningitis) or titers for all showing immunity, as well as Tetanus booster every 10 years.  A negative Mantoux (TB) test is required before attending externship.  All Students are recommended to undergo the Hepatitis B Series vaccination.
  • Transfer students must provide a completed “Certification of Payment of Contractual Fees” form from the last cosmetology or nail technician school attended.
